NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif while speaking at the Asia Society seminar being held in New York on Wednesday said that Pakistan cannot take responsibility for ensuring peace and security in Afghanistan while adding that effective border management with Afghanistan is vital for stopping terrorist infiltration.
Khawaja stated that the United States has not succeeded in Afghanistan by waging war and the ongoing 16-year war explains that peace cannot be restored in the country without all sides involved coming to a mutual agreement.
The minister said that no other country wishes for peace in Afghanistan more than Pakistan, but a number of Afghan leaders want to continue the status quo due to their vested interests.
Asif accused India of carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan while operating in Afghanistan and also said that India has about 66 terrorist organizations that are currently active and operational.
