The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is likely to appoint Salahuddin Mehsud as the new inspector general of police (IGP) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, a close aide of the top police officer told Daily Times on Sunday.
In his exclusive chat with Daily Times, the person who wished to go unnamed said: “The notification of Salahuddin Mehsud being the new IGP of KP is ready, which is to be signed by him in a couple of days”. The source also said that nothing is officially released yet and the picture would be clear till Wednesday.
Mehsud is a grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).He joined the PSP in 1989 and earlier served as IG KP from March 2017 till June 2018. He had served as Additional Inspector General (AIG) of special branch in KP, CID, traffic and the Frontier Reserve Police (FRP).
He is the native of South Waziristan tribal region and is thoroughly known a professional police officer. He remained IGP of KP for almost 14 months after he succeeded Nasir Khan Durrani. Currently, Muhammad Tahir is the IG of the province.
