BASIR PUR: Five persons were killed, while two others were injured in a train-rickshaw collision on Wednesday.
Farid Express train was heading from Lahore to Karachi and collided into a rickshaw at Basir Pur crossing on Wednesday, resulting in the death of five people and leaving two other injured.
According to sources, Police informed that the accident has occurred due to lack of crossing. Rickshaw driver was trying to cross the track at Basirpur where there was no railway crossing.
Victims were rushed to local hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.
The dead bodies were identified as Mohammed Bilal, Mohammed Ramazan, Ahmed Yar, Shahzad and the rickshaw driver Mohammed Aslam.
According to sources, railway administration confirmed about the death of the five persons Railways Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique ordered inquiry about the incident.
Family members of the victims placed dead bodies of the deceased at the railway track and protested against the government. They claimed that the government was responsible for the loss of life due to negligence in constructing crossing at the railway tracks.
