KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and police on Wednesday came up with a joint strategy to reduce mobile phone snatching. According to the strategy, a case will be registered against those selling a stolen or snatched phone.
According to media reports, the CPLC and DIG South have prepared an affidavit with regards to the new strategy. The officials concerned told media that the document made it mandatory to mention the data of a seller, purchaser and shopkeeper.
According to the officials, a shopkeeper would be bound to obtain a copy of mobile seller’s CNIC copy and verifiable phone number.
The officials further said that if a shopkeeper sold a snatched or stolen mobile phone, he would have to return the purchaser the entire amount of money, and a case would be filed against him under Section 411.
