ISLAMABAD: The initial report regarding the assault on senior journalist Ahmad Noorani was submitted to the interior ministry on Wednesday and sketches of the suspected attackers were also released along with the report by Police.
A notice issued by the Aabpara Police stated that a Rs 200,000 will be awarded to anyone who provides information regarding the suspects and their identity would not be revealed.
Pictures of at least six accused extracted from CCTV footage have been sent to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for identification purposes.
The journalist’s car was stopped by three men travelling on a motorcycle near Zero Point, and it was said that three more men joined the attackers and started hitting Noorani with iron rods and thrashing him after taking out the car keys from the his car’s ignition system.
The incident took place at Khayabane Suharwardy near the Federal Urdu University in Islamabad on October 27.
The bikers were said to have sped off and that their bikes had no registration plates on them.
Onlookers started gathering at the site and it quickly developed into a traffic mess.
Ahmed Noorani was shifted to a nearby hospital and his condition is said to be out of danger now.
This attack was widely condemned by personalities from all walks of life ranging from Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, politicians, journalists and human rights activists.
Ahsan Iqbal visited Ahmed Noorani’s residence on Tuesday and vowed to bring the suspects behind bars.
